Our client, one of the UK's leading renewable energy companies is currently recruiting for a Hydro Operations and Maintenance Engineer based in Scotland.

Providing operational and maintenance support to the Hydro and renewables portfolio in Scotland, you will ensure plant achieves production targets, monitor and address performance issues and oversee commissioning and fault finding. This will involve managing contractors extensively, acting as Technical Officer for O&M contracts and controlling substantial budgets, whilst reporting directly to senior management.

You will require working SCADA and plant control system knowledge, impressive safety and environmental awareness and a high level of computer literacy. Equally importantly, you will need real commercial acumen, a flexible approach to activities and location and the motivation to work on your own initiative.

Principal Accountabilities:

The post holder will be directly responsible for the availability of plant generally located in southern Scotland.

Maintenance is generally carried out both 'in house' and by contractors or staff retained from other parts of the business. The post holder will be responsible for:

Managing site budgets and contracts, taking into account periodic peaks in activities.

Safety of staff, contractors and visitors.

Plant reliability and availability.

Implementation and management of company safety rules.

Spares availability and stockholding including secure and appropriate storage.

Provision of adequately trained and experienced contractors.

Statutory compliance - Pressure systems, LOLER, PUWER Reservoirs act, abstraction licences etc.

Knowledge and Skills:

HNC or equivalent in relevant discipline.

Broad based exposure to E&M, HV and Civils.

Driving licence as travel to remote sites is required.

Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations.

Sound H&S knowledge.

Experience and/or ability to work alone unsupervised.
